From journeys through mist kissed Himalayan foothills, Pacific Volcanos active and dormant and Sri Lankan rainforests come Oolongs, Orange Pekoes, and muscatel Darjeelings, brisk Assams, smoky Lapsangs and fragrant Jasmines … developed and curated by our tea master by working directly with planters and tea estates to bring the finest teas together into our tea library of over 140 distinct and distinguished teas.
The tea world is similar to that of wine with a small set of plants, yielding hundreds of varieties, green, black, white, oolong, based on the soil conditions, climate, region, cultivation, and processing techniques.
We craft each tea to have its own unique East India Company signature – rediscover favourites such as our Staunton Earl Grey and Royal Breakfast, explore original blends like First Romance or the tropical Blend 68, the historically inspired Boston Tea Party, seasonal specialties including Darjeeling First Flush and Pedro Orange Pekoe, and exclusive rare teas such as Golden Tips and Silver Cloud.
It all begins with our tea master, Lalith Lenadora, and his team. From the tender age of 18 as a trainee tea planter, Lalith, has built his expertise in tea over a 35-year career, rising to general manager of 22 estates in Sri Lanka before joining The East India Company. His wealth of experience actually working in tea gardens enables an innate understanding of growing seasons, micro-climates, and variations in rainfall to get the best out of each tea.
OVER 140 RARE, SEASONAL, AND PREMIUM TEAS TO COMPLEMENT THE FINEST GOURMET FOODS
For us, tea sourcing is more than just selecting the finest teas. We cultivate direct relationships with farmers and planters around the world, working with them to pick, process, and craft select tea leaves to our desired profiles. This end-to-end involvement makes our teas distinctive in character and flavour, such that in a world with many seemingly similar teas, ours remain singular.
